Karen K. Miller is a retired Associate Professor of History at Boston College. She specialized in Afro-American history, particularly focusing on African-American women and the intersection of gender, race, and public policy. Her research explores the history of higher education, including the development of Black Studies programs in California institutions from 1965 to 1985.
Education: Ph.D. in History from the University of California. She has held prestigious fellowships at Harvard University’s W.E.B. DuBois Institute and received grants from the Ford Foundation and University of Illinois.
Her research interests span social policy, institutional history, and gender studies. Recent work includes analyzing the role of myth and gender in policy frameworks. Key publications examine race, power dynamics, and academic institutional change.
