Karen Hoover is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy at Clarkson University with 30+ years of pediatric specialization. She holds an OTD from Chatham University and previously directed a multidisciplinary pediatric practice providing OT, PT, and ABA therapies. Clinical expertise includes assessment/intervention for autism, developmental delays, and school-based challenges.
Research interests focus on simulation-based occupational therapy education, interprofessional collaboration models, and evidence-based pediatric interventions. She co-developed the SNiPs scissor skills program and secured $1.23M funding for Project Write to Learn, creating OT-SLP collaborations for children with learning disabilities.
Teaching emphasizes hands-on skill development in courses like Experiential Learning Lab IV and Evidence-Based Practice. She integrates clinical cases into simulation experiences for graduate students and serves as an adaptive skiing instructor for STRIDE Adaptive Sports.
