Karen Holness

Karen Holness is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Systems Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology's College of Engineering and Science. With over 25 years of experience in systems engineering and industrial engineering across manufacturing, military operations, higher education, and research, her expertise includes Systems Engineering Technical Reviews and sociotechnical system design and analysis.

Her research focuses on model-based systems engineering, human systems integration, and decision-making frameworks in military and security contexts. Recent work explores the impact of modeling on stakeholder cognition, sociotechnical evaluations of naval aviation systems, and cognitive behaviors in technical data assessments.
