Dr. Karen Hamre is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at Emory University and serves as an Epidemiologist for The Carter Center’s Hispaniola Initiative. Her work focuses on eliminating lymphatic filariasis and malaria in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota, an MPH from Boston University, and a BA in Mathematics from St. Olaf College.

Research Interests: Global Health, Infectious Disease Surveillance, Spatial Analysis, Implementation Science, and Neglected Tropical Diseases. Her doctoral work analyzed malaria surveillance data in highland Kenya using immuno-epidemiologic methods. She has collaborated with institutions like the Kenya Medical Research Institute and Makerere University.
