Karen David

Karen David is a Lecturer at The Glasgow School of Art, where she engages in curatorial work, writing, workshops, and studio-based practice. Her research explores fictional narratives, mythmaking, and para-anthropology through interdisciplinary methodologies.

Research Interests: Karen’s practice merges historical and imagined elements, focusing on the occult in relation to consumerism and domesticity. Her work incorporates materials like tie-dye, crystals, and pop-culture references (e.g., The X-Files), oscillating between cynicism and sincerity.

Key Projects: Her research has taken her to the Bauhaus in Dessau and the Southwest American Desert to investigate landscape mythologies, culminating in a fictional artists’ community project that links post-painterly abstraction, new age memorabilia, and experimental gardening.
