Dr. Karel H. van Donselaar is an Assistant Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology, affiliated with the Department of Operations Planning Accounting & Control within the Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences faculty. His research focuses on retail operations, particularly automated replenishment systems for perishable/non-perishable products, supply chain efficiency, and inventory management. He teaches courses on supply chain logistics, quantitative modeling, and stochastic operations management.
Academically, he holds a PhD in business econometrics from Erasmus University, Rotterdam, and conducted research at Stanford University as a Fulbright grantee in 1998. His work has been published in journals like Management Science and European Journal of Operational Research.
Key research contributions include optimizing retail inventory strategies, reducing out-of-stocks and outdating, and analyzing logistics networks using empirical data from Dutch retailers. He has also explored freight accessibility's impact on logistics employment in US counties.
