Kara McCormack is an Assistant Professor in the Department of American Culture and Literature at Bilkent University, specializing in cultural studies of the American West and science fiction. Her work examines mythic narratives in film, television, and public spaces, with publications on dystopian Wests in The Handmaid’s Tale and frontier symbolism in Turkish media.
She explores cultural memory in UFO tourism (Roswell) and cross-cultural adaptations of Western myths. Dr. McCormack teaches courses on the American West, science fiction, and cultural theory. Her monograph Imagining Tombstone analyzes the town's legendary status. She curates student object-analysis projects to examine cultural narratives.
