Kara Griffith

Kara Griffith serves as Assistant Director for Student Success Advising and Adjunct Faculty at Rochester Institute of Technology's Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences (GCCIS), joining RIT in 2018 with primary focus on academic advising and student success initiatives within computing disciplines.

Her educational background includes:

• B.S. in Health Science from SUNY Brockport
• M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from St. John Fisher University

Griffith specializes in computing education support systems, directing GCCIS student success programs including the Tutoring Center and Computing Exploration initiative. Her work bridges academic advising with mental health frameworks to enhance student retention in technical fields, particularly through the CINT-101 seminar introducing computing disciplines and career pathways.

In her administrative capacity, she collaborates with the Assistant Dean for Student Success to implement professional development, advisor training, and cross-departmental student support systems. She additionally serves as Mentor and Adjunct Faculty for the College Restoration Program, extending her academic support expertise beyond GCCIS.

Griffith manages the GCCIS Tutoring Center while administering the Computing Exploration program in partnership with the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, creating structured pathways for prospective computing students through curriculum overviews, industry connections, and laboratory facility introductions.
