Kang Li is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Computing at the University of Georgia, part of Franklin College of Arts & Sciences. His research focuses on Network Security, Systems Security, and Multimedia Networking, with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity challenges in domains such as DNS monitoring, malware detection, and cloud computing. Li holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Oregon Graduate Institute (2002) and a B.Sc. from Tsinghua University (1995).
His research interests include analyzing security risks in distributed systems, developing tools for detecting malicious domain names, and exploring vulnerabilities in virtualized environments. Notable projects include the DHS-funded 'SDCI Sec: Passive and Active DNS Monitoring Tools' (2015–2019) and collaborative work on ClickMiner and WebCapsule for forensic browser interaction analysis.
Li has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications, covering topics such as rowhammer exploits, autonomous vehicle security, and kernel vulnerability analysis. His work bridges theoretical computer science with practical applications in networked systems and cloud infrastructure.
