Kandace Hinton

Dr. Kandace Hinton is a Professor of Educational Administration and Coordinator of Indiana State University's hybrid doctoral programs in Educational Leadership and Higher Education Leadership. She teaches courses on higher education history, academic leadership strategies, and ethics, emphasizing collaborative learning. Hinton also serves as a Terre Haute City Council member, focusing on infrastructure, affordable housing, and economic growth. She is the first Black woman elected to the council, advocating for community improvement rooted in her background in city planning and higher education administration.

Her academic career began at Indiana State University in 2003, following roles in admissions administration and community planning. Hinton holds a PhD and prioritizes mentorship, encouraging students to become transformative leaders through applied learning. Beyond academia, she is an accomplished gospel music director and performer, reflecting her commitment to community engagement and artistic expression.
