Dr. Kamran Sarmadi is an Assistant Professor in Logistics and Transportation at Queen Mary University of London's School of Business and Management. He is a member of the Centre for Globalisation Research (CGR). Previously, he held roles as Lecturer in Transport and Logistics Management at the University of Greenwich (Deputy Programme Leader for MA Logistics) and Research Assistant at Newcastle University Business School. He earned a PhD in Operations and Supply Chain Management from Newcastle University, alongside MSc (Logistics & Supply Chain Management) and BSc (Industrial Engineering) degrees.
His research focuses on applying operations research (OR) and mathematical programming to optimize decision-making in logistics, supply chains, and transportation. Key areas include container shipping networks, inventory control, and disaster relief logistics. His work appears in top journals like Transportation Research Part B and Computers & Operations Research.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on coding with Python, blockchain programming, and supply chain planning. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Current research explores robust optimization techniques for supply chains under uncertainty, with applications in smart grids and humanitarian logistics.
