Kamran Alba

Kamran Alba is an Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Technology department at the University of Houston, with a joint appointment in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He serves as Director of the Complex Fluids Lab and Associate Editor of the Engineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics journal.

His research focuses on Experimental and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Rheology, and Displacement Flows, particularly in non-Newtonian, viscoplastic, and multiphase systems. Applications span Energy, Materials Science, and Biomedical Engineering.

The Complex Fluids Lab under his direction investigates thin-film flow modeling, coating processes, and buoyant displacements in inclined ducts. Recent work includes 3D printing with natural fibers, turbulence control in Taylor-Couette flows, and biomedical fluid dynamics.
