Kameshwar Poolla is a Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, affiliated with the Mechanical Engineering Department and Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences. He currently serves as Director of the IMPACT center for Integrated Circuit manufacturing. Previously, he was on the faculty at the University of Illinois, Urbana (1984–1991).

Research interests span renewable energy systems, semiconductor manufacturing, sensor networks, and system identification. His work on wind energy integration explores challenges in grid stability and market mechanisms for deep renewable penetration.
Scientific awards include:
- 1988 NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award
- 1993 Hugo Schuck Best Paper Prize
- 1994 Donald P. Eckman Award
- 1998 UC Distinguished Teaching Award
- 2005 & 2007 IEEE Transactions Best Paper Prizes
He co-founded OnWafer Technologies (acquired by KLA-Tencor) and consults for Cadence Design Systems.
