Western Washington Universityمعرفی
Kameron Decker Harris serves as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Western Washington University since 2020, conducting interdisciplinary research at the intersection of computational neuroscience and mathematical modeling. His work focuses on deciphering neural computation principles through network analysis and graph theory frameworks.
Dr. Harris holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Washington (2017), complemented by an MSc in Mathematics from the University of Vermont (2012) and a dual BA in Physics & Mathematics from the same institution (2009). His academic journey includes a Fulbright Scholarship in Chile (2010) and a Washington Research Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Washington (2017-2020), where he bridged computer science and biology.
His research program centers on computational neuroscience with specific emphasis on neural network structures, graph-theoretical approaches to brain function, and applied mathematical modeling. As director of the Glomerulus lab—named after neural clusters studied in olfactory systems—he investigates how small neuronal groups process information within larger neural architectures.
Key recognitions include the prestigious Washington Research Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship supporting his interdisciplinary neuroscience work and the internationally competitive Fulbright Scholarship enabling research abroad. These awards highlight his contributions to advancing computational methods in biological systems.
Through the Glomerulus lab, Dr. Harris mentors undergraduate researchers in computational projects, emphasizing hands-on experience with neural modeling and data analysis. His lab functions as a collaborative hub connecting students with global neuroscience initiatives while developing novel mathematical approaches to brain function.
Outside academia, he maintains active engagement with outdoor pursuits including skiing, hiking, and biking, alongside cultural interests in literature and communal dining experiences. His recent adoption of roller skating reflects a commitment to physical activity and community recreation.
