Kalle Kraus is a Professor of Management Accounting at Monash University, with a primary affiliation to the Department of Accounting. He is also a co-founder of the Centre for Sports and Business at the Stockholm School of Economics and serves on the editorial board of Management Accounting Research and as an Associate Editor of the Scandinavian Journal of Management. His research focuses on performance measurement, the intersection of accounting and sport, and the role of emotion in accounting processes. Kraus has contributed to key journals including Accounting, Organizations and Society and Management Accounting Research.
His work explores themes such as balanced scorecard integration with risk management, moral dimensions of accounting practices, and the impact of digitalization on public sector accounting. Recent studies include analyses of cloud-based ERP systems in public sectors, financialization critiques, and crisis management during extreme events like the 2015 Swedish migrant crisis.
Kraus has collaborated internationally, with research spanning Sweden, Australia, and beyond. His contributions align with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly through work on equitable institutional practices and public sector accountability. He has published over 35 peer-reviewed articles since 2010, reflecting his expertise in organizational control systems, inter-organizational dynamics, and the socio-political dimensions of accounting.
