Kaleena Stasiak is an Assistant Professor of Art and Area Head of Printmaking at the University of Mississippi’s Department of Art & Art History, housed within the College of Liberal Arts. She oversees the printmaking studio, teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, and advises the Pixel Press: UM Print + Photo Club. Her office is located in 116 Meek Hall.
Education: BFA in Printmaking from Ontario College of Art and Design (Canada), MFA in Printmaking & Book Arts from the University of Georgia (2018).
Research Focus: Stasiak explores collective mythmaking through interdisciplinary art, reinterpreting colonial-era symbols, folk art, and quilts to challenge dominant historical narratives. Her work examines traditional women’s labor, decorative arts as autobiographical documentation, and the subversion of gender stereotypes via craft-based practices. She employs printmaking, book arts, and performance to interrogate underrepresented histories.
Teaching & Engagement: Courses include Introductory through Advanced Printmaking, Letterpress, Book Arts, and Professional Practices. She has led workshops at institutions like St. Michael’s Printshop (Newfoundland) and Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts. Stasiak co-founded the South East Women Wrestlers (2017), a performance collective critiquing gender norms through athletic spectacle.
