Kaitlyn Langendoerfer

Kaitlyn Langendoerfer serves as Assistant Professor of Sociology and Criminology at Wilkes University, where she specializes in health sociology, aging research, and mixed-methods approaches within Breiseth Hall Room 322.

Dr. Langendoerfer's research examines medicine and health through the lens of age and life course transitions, with particular emphasis on racial disparities in Type 2 Diabetes management and aging-in-place strategies for urban communities. Her NIH/NIA-funded work at the Elderly Care Research Center developed health advocacy interventions for Black and white older adults, while current editorial leadership of the Journal of Elder Policy advances interdisciplinary aging policy solutions.

Her scholarly impact spans leading journals including the Gerontologist, Ethnicity & Health, and Clinical Interventions in Aging, reflecting consistent contributions to gerontology and health equity research. Federal grant support from the National Institutes of Health enables her ongoing investigation of structural determinants in aging populations and healthcare access disparities.
