معرفی
Kaisa Thorell is an Assistant Professor and DDLS Fellow in Infection Biology at the Department of Chemistry & Molecular Biology, University of Gothenburg. She also holds the position of Associate Senior Lecturer. Her research centers on Helicobacter pylori, with expertise in bacterial genomics, microbial diversity, and host-microbe interactions in gastric cancer development.
Research Focus:
Dr. Thorell investigates bacterial evolution, antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, and environmental pathogen transmission. Key areas include:
- Genomic analysis of H. pylori populations
- Host-microbe interactions in gastric diseases
- Development of bioinformatics tools for microbial genomics
- Antimicrobial resistance in clinical and environmental settings
Publication Trends (2020-2024):
Her recent work emphasizes genomic studies of pathogenic bacteria (notably H. pylori and E. coli), antimicrobial resistance, and viral genomics (including SARS-CoV-2). Publications appear in high-impact journals like Nature, Nature Communications, and PNAS, with consistent focus on evolutionary mechanisms and public health applications.
Awards:
- DDLS Fellowship (Infection Biology)
