Kairong Xiao serves as the Roger F. Murray Associate Professor of Business at Columbia Business School, where he joined the Finance Division faculty in 2017. He also holds a Research Associate position at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).
Professor Xiao's research spans financial intermediation, corporate finance, monetary economics, industrial organization, and political economy. His work frequently examines how financial regulations impact banking behavior, monetary policy transmission mechanisms, and market liquidity. He has made significant contributions to understanding shadow banking systems, liquidity transformation by mutual funds, and the implications of central bank digital currencies.
