Kairit Kaur is a researcher in world literature at the University of Tartu's Institute of Cultural Studies, affiliated with the Department of Literary and Theatre Studies. She holds a doctoral degree from the University of Tartu (2013) for her thesis on "Dichtende Frauen in Est-, Liv- und Kurland, 1654-1800" ("Poetic Women in Estonia, Livonia and Kurland, 1654–1800").
Her research focuses on Baltic German literary culture, transnational cultural exchanges between the Baltic region and Western Europe, and the historical trajectories of women's literary production in the Baltic States. She has conducted advanced studies at the University of Münster and University of Latvia, with additional research in Berlin and Freiburg.
Prior roles include specialist positions at the Estonian Old Literature Text Collection (EEVA) and the University of Tartu's Baltica unit for historical publications. She contributes to interdisciplinary initiatives like the UNESCO Chair for the Application of Intangible Cultural Heritage and Arctic Studies research.
