Kailey Lawson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Rhodes College, teaching courses in statistics, assessment, personality, and adolescent development. She received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis in 2022.
Lawson's research examines personality development across the lifespan, focusing on how temperament and personality traits influence mental health and academic achievement. Her work employs longitudinal methods to track developmental pathways from childhood through adulthood, with particular emphasis on Mexican-origin populations.
Her recent publications (2019-2025) demonstrate two primary themes: methodological contributions to personality/developmental research (statistical control, construct validity, open science), and substantive findings on personality-psychopathology relationships. Her most impactful work explores temperament's role in suicide risk and cognitive aging.
Lawson directs the Personality & Adjustment Lab and mentors undergraduate researchers through the RCM program. She has received recognition for her teaching and commitment to inclusive research practices.
