Kaia Rønsdal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theology at the University of Oslo, affiliated with the Faculty of Theology. Her research focuses on intersections of migration, religion, and spatial theory, emphasizing embodied experiences in borderlands and urban spaces.
Education: PhD (2016) in Theology from University of Oslo; Master's in Professional Ethics and Science of Diaconia (2006); Bachelor's in Child Welfare (2002). Professional background includes work with substance users.
Research interests include phenomenology, professional ethics, and the role of space in shaping human encounters. She explores concepts like hospitality and marginalization through interdisciplinary lenses combining theology, spatial theory, and fieldwork.
Her book *Calling Bodies in Lived Spaces* (2018) reinterprets Lutheran 'calling' through urban spatial dynamics. Current projects investigate migration-religion intersections and Nordic hospitality frameworks in border regions.
