Professor Kai-Uwe Bux is affiliated with Bielefeld University's Faculty of Mathematics. He serves as Spokesperson for the Transregio 358 project on Integral Structures in Geometry and Representation Theory since 2023, and as Subproject Manager in multiple TRR 358 initiatives (B3, B4, A5) investigating affine Kac-Moody groups, spherical harmonic analysis on affine buildings, and geodetic flows.
His research spans geometric group theory, Lie theory, and topological methods in representation theory, with connections to harmonic analysis and number theory. Active in third-party funded projects like SPP 2026 (Geometry at Infinity) and SFB 701, he explores spectral structures and topological methods in mathematics.
Teaching responsibilities include advanced mathematics courses under modules such as 24-M-GT-AT10 (Advanced Geometry and Topology) and 24-M-GT-TOPG (Topological Groups). He is a member of Bielefeld Graduate School in Theoretical Sciences and the Senate's Group of University Professors.
