Dr. Kai Germaschewski is Professor in Integrated Applied Mathematics and Physics & Astronomy at the University of New Hampshire. His expertise centers on computational plasma physics, with applications in magnetic fusion and space plasma phenomena.
Research develops advanced particle-in-cell simulation methods for high-performance computing environments to model plasma behavior in contexts ranging from laboratory experiments to astrophysical systems. Current investigations examine magnetic reconnection, plasma instabilities, collisionless shocks, and kinetic plasma processes.
Teaching includes High-Performance Computing, Electromagnetic Theory, and Mechanics courses. Significant publications demonstrate applications of computational methods in understanding Bernstein-Greene-Kruskal modes, Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities, and collisionless shock dynamics in magnetized plasmas.
