Kai Cheng

Professor Kai Cheng is a Chair Professor and Head of the Advanced Manufacturing & Enterprise Engineering Department at Brunel University London's College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences. With a PhD in Precision Manufacturing from Liverpool John Moores University (1994), he has held academic roles at Glasgow Caledonian University (Lecturer, 1995-1999), Leeds Metropolitan University (Reader/Professor, 1999-2006), and Brunel since 2006.

His recent publications focus on precision machining of composites, sustainable manufacturing systems, digital twin development, and vibration-assisted micro-machining. Collaborative work spans institutions in the UK, China, and Sweden with over 20 funded research projects in smart machining systems and sustainable manufacturing.
