Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kadir AKAN is a full-time faculty member at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University's Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Plant Protection. His primary research focuses on phytopathology, with emphasis on wheat rust diseases (yellow rust, leaf rust), fungal pathogen management, and disease resistance breeding in cereals. He utilizes advanced techniques like hyperspectral imaging for disease monitoring and leads sustainable wheat production projects.

His research bridges traditional pathology with precision agriculture technologies. Recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrate strong focus on:

- Nutrient-pathogen interactions (iron/zinc effects on rust severity)

- Virulence monitoring of Puccinia pathogens
He actively advises graduate students with 11 current advisees working on disease resistance, weed management, and molecular diagnostics.
