Kacie Lees is a Lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), specializing in neon techniques and light-based art. She holds a BFA from SAIC (2005) and an MFA from The School of Visual Arts, NY (2012).
Her work explores intersections between nature, history, and light, with exhibitions at institutions including the Museum of Neon Art (Los Angeles), Contemporary Jewish Museum (San Francisco), and Fondazione Palmieri (Italy). She authored Neon Primer: A Handbook on Light Construction (2021) and contributed to Plazma 4: Interplanetary Art and Science Magazine.
Lees has received the Los Angeles Conservancy Award and participated in OSU’s Pulsed Laser Holography Residency. She teaches Neon Techniques across multiple terms, focusing on traditional and contemporary applications of neon in art. Her works are included in collections like the Joan Flasch Artists Books Archive and The Rakow Research Library.
