Professor KYRIAZIS GEORGE is a faculty member at the University of Cyprus, affiliated with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics within the School of Natural and Applied Sciences. He holds the rank of Professor and is associated with the RIA Entity. His research focuses on Approximation Theory, Harmonic Analysis, and Functional Analysis. He obtained a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Ioannina, Greece (1986), and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of South Carolina, USA (1992).
His research interests encompass advanced topics such as nonlinear approximation, wavelet theory, and the study of function spaces like Besov and Triebel-Lizorkin spaces. His recent work includes investigations into distribution spaces on metric spaces, operator theory, and atomic/molecular decompositions. Notable contributions include foundational studies on frames in Banach spaces and compactly supported frames for distribution spaces.
Publications highlight a focus on theoretical advancements in functional analysis, with recent trends emphasizing applications of operator theory and metric space embeddings. His work bridges pure mathematics with applied aspects of approximation and harmonic analysis.
