KJ Cerankowski is an Assistant Professor at Oberlin College, affiliated with the Department of Comparative American Studies and Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies within the College of Arts and Sciences. Their work bridges interdisciplinary scholarship, creative writing, and critical theory. Cerankowski holds a PhD from Stanford University (2014), an MA (2010), and a BA from the University of Southern California (2004).
Research focuses on asexuality, trauma theory, archive studies, queer theory, and transgender studies. Key publications include Suture: Trauma and Trans Becoming (2021), which won the Queer Indie Award, and Nothing Wanting: Asexuality and the Matter of Absence (forthcoming 2024). They co-edited Asexualities: Feminist and Queer Perspectives (2014), re-released in 2024, and published essays in WSQ, Feminist Studies, and Studies in Gender and Sexuality.

Cerankowski’s creative work appears in literary journals like DIAGRAM and Sinister Wisdom. Current projects include a third monograph, Roar of Wanting: Touching Trans History, exploring trans historiography through tactile archives.
