K. Jill Fleuriet is a Teaching Professor at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in the Department of Anthropology, College of Liberal and Fine Arts. She serves as Vice Provost for Honors Education and President of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers, with ongoing research into sociocultural processes affecting health outcomes along the U.S.-Mexico border.
- Education: Ph.D. in Anthropology from Stanford University (2003)
Research Interests: Fleuriet's work examines how categorical inequalities (race, gender, class, citizenship) become embodied in health disparities. Her long-term Rio Grande Valley fieldwork explores reproduction's sociocultural dimensions, while newer projects address caregiving in academia and community-engaged health interventions.
Publications & Projects: 2021 book Rhetoric and Reality on the U.S.-Mexico Border and ongoing collaborations including the Academic Carework Project with Rebecca Galemba, Nikky Greer, and Sallie Han. Key applied work includes program evaluations for Bihl Haus Arts and The Playhouse Theater.

Advising & Grants: Mentored students like Milena Melo and Daisy Paredes. Secured grants from NSF, UTSA Mexico Center, and San Antonio Life Sciences Institute for border health research, undocumented immigrant care studies, and arts-based geriatric interventions.
