Kęstutis Romaneckas

Kęstutis Romaneckas is a Professor at Vytautas Magnus University Agriculture Academy (VDU ŽŪA), working in the Department of Agroecosystems and Soil Sciences within the Agronomy Faculty. He has held the title of Professor since 2017 and earned his Doctor of Biomedical Sciences degree in 1998. His academic progression at the university includes Assistant (1996-1998), Senior Assistant (1999-2001), Acting Associate Professor (2002-2004), Associate Professor (2005-2013), and Professor (since 2013). From 2017 to 2019, he served as Pro-Dean for Science and Study Development at the Agronomy Faculty.

His educational background includes studies at LŽŪA from 1989-1994 where he earned a degree in Scientific Agronomy with honors, followed by doctoral studies at LŽŪU from 1994-1998 where he defended his Doctor of Biomedical Sciences dissertation. In 2009, he completed his habilitation with the work collection 'Optimization of Soil Tillage for Sugar Beets,' the first comprehensive study of its kind in Lithuania.

Romaneckas specializes in sustainable agricultural technologies with a focus on environmentally and energy-efficient farming practices. His research encompasses:

• Environmentally friendly soil tillage systems for field crops
• Non-chemical weed control methods including living mulch systems
• Ecological farming practices
• Soil properties and management
• Sustainable sugar beet cultivation technologies
• Competitiveness of intercropping and weeds in agricultural fields

He has served as an expert for BiodivERsA ERA-NET and FACCE-JPI international projects since 2014, and as a scientific expert for the Lithuanian Research Council since 2014. He is also a member-expert of the Executive Group for the Lithuanian National Science Program 'Sustainability of Agro-, Forest and Water Ecosystems' since 2015.

His international collaborations include research stays and lecturing in Latvia, Poland, Croatia, Italy, and Kazakhstan.
