Jürgen Tuvikene is a Researcher at Tallinn University of Technology's School of Science, Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology. He holds a Doctor's Degree from the same institution (2021) and has conducted postdoctoral research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) since 2023. His research focuses on gene regulation in the nervous system, neurotrophic factors, and molecular mechanisms of neurological diseases. Tuvikene has been involved in multiple research projects funded by organizations such as the Estonian Research Council and the University of Pennsylvania Orphan Disease Center.
Education: PhD in Gene Technology (2013–2021), MSc and BSc in Gene Technology from Tallinn University of Technology, all with cum laude distinctions.
Research interests include the regulation of BDNF expression, neurotrophic factor signaling, and translational control of mRNA. He has authored/co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles in journals like Journal of Neuroscience, Frontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, and Scientific Reports.
Awards include the 2017 Best Scientific Publication Award from Tallinn University of Technology and a diploma from the 2011 State Student Research Contest.
