Jürgen Quade

Prof. Dr. Jürgen Quade is a Professor and current Vice Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences since 2020, where he has served as faculty since 1999. He concurrently lectures at Ruhr University Bochum in the distance learning program "Applied IT Security (M.Sc.)" since 2003.

He holds a doctorate in electrical engineering with information technology focus from the Technical University of Munich, completed at the Chair of Process Computers (now Real-Time Computer Systems), following industrial experience in automation and IT security sectors.

His research centers on practical IT security implementations, evidenced by industrial projects including secure remote maintenance architectures, climate control systems, and university security applications. This work directly informs his prolific publications: over 115 Linux Magazine articles since 2003 and authoritative books like "Developing Linux Drivers" (4th ed., 2016) and "Embedded Linux with the Raspberry Pi" (2014).

As head of the EZS Laboratory, he directs a team comprising scientific assistant Simon Krücken and student assistant Lara Mubarak, integrating academic research with industry-focused training in embedded systems and security protocols.
