Jürgen Neyer

Prof. Dr. Jürgen Neyer is a leading academic at the European University Viadrina, holding the Chair of European and International Politics. His work spans European integration, cross-border cooperation, and the application of AI in political science and education. He previously held positions at prestigious institutions including Goethe University Frankfurt, the University of Bremen, the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods, and the University of California, Berkeley. Neyer has also served as a visiting professor at Haifa University (Israel) and Ottawa University (Canada).

Research Focus: Neyer’s research explores the intersection of technological innovation and international conflicts, AI-driven tools for political argumentation, and democratic challenges posed by AI. He co-founded the Social Science AI Lab for Research-Based Learning and is developing AI/ML applications for parliamentary discourse analysis. His recent book, Europa im Unfrieden, examines social conflicts and political upheavals in European history and contemporary contexts.

Leadership Roles: Neyer was Founding Director of the European New School of Digital Studies, Vice President of the European University Viadrina, and Dean of the Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences. He currently co-leads the Social Science AI Lab for Research-Based Learning with Bernd Fröhlich, Katrin Girgensohn, and Benno Stein.
