Jürgen Jasperneite

Prof. Jürgen Jasperneite is a Full Professor for Computer Networks at Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences (OWL) in Germany. He also holds a Guest Professor position in Industrial IoT at Mid Sweden University. His primary affiliation is with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, where he leads research in distributed real-time systems and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS).

Education: He earned his PhD in 2002 from Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg. Prior to academia, he worked at Robert Bosch GmbH (1988–1990) and Phoenix Contact GmbH (1990–2005), holding roles from ASIC designer to R&D head of Automation Systems.

Research Focus: His work centers on industrial informatics, CPS integration into production systems (via SmartFactoryOWL), and embedded IoT systems for data-intensive applications. He co-founded key institutions including the Institute for Industrial Information Technology (inIT), Fraunhofer IOSB-INA, and the Centrum Industrial IT (CIIT). In 2018, he established 'Lemgo Digital,' an IoT Living Lab for SME cities.

Leadership: He led inIT from 2006–2017 and expanded Fraunhofer IOSB-INA into an Application Center with NRW state funding. His initiatives bridge academia and industry, emphasizing CPS and industrial automation technologies.
