Jürgen Frick is a Professor and Head of the Building Preservation Department at the Materials Testing Institute (MPA) of the University of Stuttgart, serving additionally as Deputy Head of Unit. He is an active Associate Member of the Cluster of Excellence IntCDC (Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture), focusing on computational approaches to architectural design and construction.
His research centers on building preservation methodologies, advanced construction materials, and sustainable practices in the built environment. Key projects include AP 35 – Exploit4InnoMat for innovative material applications and AP 48 – INBUILT for integrated built-environment solutions, reflecting his interdisciplinary work at the intersection of engineering, architecture, and material science.
As department head, Frick leads a specialized team within the MPA's Civil Engineering division, managing structural preservation research and testing protocols. The department operates under the university's broader engineering framework, collaborating with units spanning fire safety, timber construction, and mineral materials to address modern construction challenges.
