Prof. Dr. Jürg Fleischer is a Full Professor of German Language History at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, leading the Chair of the History of the German Language within the Institute for German Language and Linguistics. He previously held professorships at Philipps University of Marburg and served as a visiting scholar at institutions including Columbia University and Indiana University. His research focuses on historical syntax, dialectology, Berlin dialect studies, and Yiddish linguistics, with particular emphasis on register variation and language contact phenomena.
