معرفی
Jörg Renkawitz is a Professor and Principal Investigator at the Biomedical Center (BMC) of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, leading the Cell- & Mechano-Biology of the Immune System group. His research integrates immunology, mechanobiology, and molecular biology to study immune cell motility, leukocyte trafficking, and host-pathogen interactions. He holds the endowed Peter Hans Hofschneider Professorship for Molecular Medicine (2018) and has received awards such as the Life Science Research Award Austria (2019).
Education includes studies in biochemistry at LMU Munich and TU Munich, with postdoctoral research at IST Austria under Prof. Michael Sixt. His lab employs advanced microscopy, CRISPR engineering, and microfluidics to investigate cellular principles in disease contexts. He co-leads the DFG priority program SPP2332 'Physics of Parasitism' and CRC914 'Leukocyte trafficking'.
Notable contributions include work on circadian-driven dendritic cell migration and nuclear positioning in amoeboid cells. Collaborations span institutions like NIH and ETH Zurich, with interdisciplinary methods combining live-cell imaging, transcriptomics, and proteomics.
