Prof. Dr. Jörg Jores serves as Professor and Director of the Institute for Veterinary Bacteriology within the Vetsuisse Faculty at the University of Bern. He concurrently holds leadership positions as Chair of the Microbiology Cluster and Co-Lead of the BioPreparedness BioBank at the Multidisciplinary Center for Infectious Diseases (MCID). Additionally, he maintains a Senior Fellow affiliation with the Center for Development Research (ZEF) at the University of Bonn.
His research centers on veterinary bacteriology and infectious disease mechanisms in animal populations, with critical emphasis on zoonotic pathogen transmission to humans. Through the BioPreparedness BioBank initiative, he addresses biological threat readiness and antimicrobial resistance in agricultural contexts, bridging veterinary science with public health security frameworks.
Prof. Jores directs institutional infrastructure including the Microbiology Cluster and BioPreparedness BioBank, driving interdisciplinary collaboration across the MCID ecosystem. His ZEF fellowship at the University of Bonn extends this work into global development contexts, particularly regarding infectious disease impacts in resource-limited settings.
