Józef Kotowicz

Prof. Józef Kotowicz is a renowned organist and educator, serving as a Professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, Warsaw, and lecturer at the Białystok Music School Complex. He specializes in organ performance, music education, and the promotion of organ music in northeastern Poland and internationally. His roles include artistic director of Białystok Cathedral Organ Concerts and member of the Archdiocesan Church Music Commission.

Key achievements include winning the 1994 International Organ Competition and a 2001 Podlaskie Voivodeship Art Scholarship. He has performed globally, recorded five CDs, and curated radio programs on regional organs. His academic engagements include masterclasses at the University of Michigan and Slovak universities, as well as jury roles in international competitions.

He actively promotes organ preservation, importing historic instruments to Białystok and collaborating with academic and religious institutions. His work bridges performance, education, and cultural heritage, with a focus on organ music’s role in both sacred and secular contexts.
