Jérémie Torres-Ceyte is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Montreal, serving as Vice-Dean. He specializes in Civil Law, Law of Obligations, Contracts, and Comparative Law. His research focuses on legal reforms, particularly the 1994 Quebec Civil Code revisions, and the intersection of human rights with contractual frameworks.
His research projects include analyzing judicial and political discourses on contractual obligations and exploring the concept of 'essential obligations' in legal systems. Funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Quebec Bar Foundation, his work bridges theoretical and practical dimensions of civil law.
He supervises doctoral and master's students on topics like Quebec notarial institutions and contractual delegation. Torres-Ceyte is affiliated with the Cyberjustice Laboratory and holds the Chair of Notaries of the University of Montreal. He teaches courses on obligations in civil law and has authored/co-authored books on Quebec civil law evolution and legal dialogue theories.
