معرفی
Juudit Ottelin is an Associate Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), affiliated with the Department of Energy and Process Engineering. Her research focuses on sustainability analysis of urban systems, particularly addressing trade-offs and rebound effects in environmental policies. She employs life cycle assessment (LCA) and cross-flow analysis (EE IO) methodologies.
Academic Background: Prior to joining NTNU, Ottelin held roles such as Senior Research Scientist at the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), Postdoctoral Researcher at Aalto University, and Visiting Researcher at Leiden University. Her PhD work spanned Aalto University (Built Environment) and the University of Iceland (Environmental Studies).
Research Interests: Ottelin’s work emphasizes systemic environmental effects, circular economy strategies, carbon capture, and consumer environmental footprints. She explores how urbanization and policy decisions impact emissions trajectories, advocating for holistic environmental policies.
Recent Publications Highlight: Her 2025 studies investigate urban material footprints and structural resilience, while 2023 work analyzes Nordic carbon footprint trends. She frequently addresses carbon sequestration potential in urban environments and the implications of consumption-based accounting.
Current Projects: Ongoing work includes ‘Material- and Metal Footprints of European Consumers’, ‘CO-CARBON: Carbon Smart Urban Green Infrastructure’, and ‘1.5 Degree Lifestyles in Nordic Urban Areas’.
Teaching: Ottelin instructs courses on industrial ecology, lifecycle analysis, and Python for sustainability modeling at NTNU.
