Justyna Stasiołek serves as a Professor at the University of Lodz within the Department of Criminal Executive Law in the Faculty of Law and Administration. She teaches international criminal law, substantive criminal law, and English-language courses for both ERASMUS exchange students and Polish law students.
Her research focuses on broadly defined criminal law with particular emphasis on international criminal law and criminal enforcement law. Professor Stasiołek's scholarly work addresses critical contemporary issues including:
- International crimes: genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and crime of aggression
- Standards of criminal proceedings with international elements
- Execution of sentences against foreign nationals
- Organized crime phenomena and terrorism
- Human trafficking and cybercrime
- Traditional and intellectual property piracy
- International judicial systems and military law
Until November 2021, Professor Stasiołek maintained an active legal practice as an attorney, successfully defending cases involving organized crime groups (automobile theft, narcotics, alcohol, tobacco, VAT, and excise duty violations) as well as family matters (divorce, alimony, and child custody).
She conducts specialized seminars for fourth and fifth year law students emphasizing the growing importance of international criminal law expertise in Poland's current geopolitical context, particularly noting the minimal practical knowledge of these issues within Polish legal practice and limited number of specialists in this domain.
Professor Stasiołek holds regular office hours on Wednesdays from 13:00-14:30 in room 4.104 at Kopcińskiego 8/12, 90-232 Łódź, and can be contacted through the University of Lodz website at https://www.uni.lodz.pl.
