Justyna Górowska

Dr. Justyna Górowska is a Lecturer at SWPS University, affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Faculty in Krakow and serving as Head of the Department of Digital Art and Multimedia. She is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher, blending art, technology, and social activism to address ecological and societal crises.

• Ph.D. from Magdalena Abakanowicz University in Poznan (2020)
• Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow

Her research interests span augmented/virtual reality, bio art, and performative experiences that critique corporate control of technology and environmental degradation. She co-founded the NERDKA artistic and research collective and the cyber_nymphs duo, advocating for the hydrosexual movement in art.

Her artistic projects include the WetMeWild performance (2017), Cyber Wedding to the Brine Shrimp (2021), and Nymph Tears (2021), showcased internationally at venues like Ars Electronica and Undercurrent Gallery. She utilizes mixed-reality tech, including Microsoft HoloLens and AR apps, to create immersive ecological narratives.

• Co-developed the Blue Humanities Archive (BHA) since 2021

Her scientific awards include the Darmasiswa Scholarship (2016), Visegrad Fund grants (2017-2018), and Creative Scholarship of Krakow (2021). She has also served as a juror for international festivals like Dreaming (2024).
