Justin Richmond

Justin Richmond is a Lecturer in the Department of Journalism & Public Relations at California State University, Long Beach, where he contributes to the College of Liberal Arts. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy and a master's degree from the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.

Professional Background: Justin began his career as an intern for The Tavis Smiley Show and Smiley & West, then served as a producer for NPR’s Morning Edition and its podcast Up First. He later became an Arts Reporter for NPR and is currently the Lead Producer (and occasional host) of the music podcast Broken Record, collaborating with prominent figures like Malcolm Gladwell, Bruce Headlam, and Rick Rubin.

Research & Teaching Interests: His work centers on journalism, media studies, podcast production, and digital communication, reflecting his extensive experience in broadcast and audio storytelling.
