Justin P. Coon is a Professor of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford and the Emmott Fellow in Engineering Science at Oriel College. He holds a BSc, MA, and PhD, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (FIMA) as well as a Senior Member of the IEEE. His research focuses on information theory, wireless communications, and network science, with over 200 publications and 40 patents. He teaches communication theory and systems modules in Oxford's undergraduate Engineering Science program and has held editorial roles in IEEE journals.
Dr. Coon's work spans theoretical and applied domains, including stochastic geometry analysis for large-scale networks, performance optimization in IoT systems, and secure communication strategies. His contributions to reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) and terahertz networks highlight his expertise in cutting-edge wireless technologies. He has also pioneered frameworks for evaluating temporal link prediction and information leakage metrics.
Notable awards include his FIMA status and IEEE Senior Membership. His research has been showcased in high-impact venues such as IEEE conferences and journals, addressing challenges in network reliability, signal processing, and machine learning applications in dynamic systems.
