Justin Ostrofsky is a Professor of Psychology at Stockton University in the Department of Psychology within the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. His research focuses on understanding the psychological processes associated with visual art production, particularly drawing. He investigates how perceptual encoding, attention, decision-making, and memory influence drawing performance across different populations and developmental stages.
Dr. Ostrofsky earned his Ph.D. in Cognitive/Experimental Psychology from Brooklyn College (2008-2013) and completed his undergraduate studies in Psychology at Stockton University (2004-2008). His educational background provided the foundation for his research into the cognitive mechanisms underlying artistic production and perception.
His primary research interest centers on the psychological processes involved in visual art production, with special emphasis on drawing. Dr. Ostrofsky investigates both observation-based drawings (depicting directly perceived models) and memory-based drawings (created from imagination).
