Justin Mahlberg is a Research Fellow at Monash University, affiliated with the School of Psychological Sciences and the Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health. He leads a clinical trial developing brain-informed neurostimulation interventions for Alcohol Use Disorder. His expertise spans cognitive mechanisms underlying decision-making, including associative learning, attention, and value-based choices, with applications to eating and substance use disorders.
He holds a PhD in Psychology from Western Sydney University (2021). His research integrates fundamental cognitive science with translational strategies to improve psychiatric disorder treatments. Current projects include neural network modeling for personalized brain stimulation therapies.
Recent work focuses on reward processing, sleep-stage impacts on learning, and body image dynamics in eating disorders. His publications bridge neuroscience, psychology, and clinical interventions.
