Justin Gumas is a Postdoctoral Researcher and PhD student in the Department of Biology and Molecular Pharmacology. He holds a BS in Biochemistry from Temple University (2017) and worked as a research technician at the University of Pennsylvania (2017-2019), studying small peptide inhibitors of the complement system. His research focuses on RNA biology, immunology, and molecular pharmacology, with emphasis on non-coding RNAs, complement system inhibitors, and their roles in immune modulation and disease.
Research Interests: Justin’s work explores the functional roles of tRNA-derived RNAs and immunostimulatory non-coding RNAs in diseases like tuberculosis, as well as challenges in sequencing and quantifying short non-coding RNAs. His studies also address the safety and efficacy of C3 inhibitors in ophthalmic applications.
Publications highlight advancements in RNA sequencing techniques (e.g., cP-RNA-seq) and the discovery of novel immune pathways linked to extracellular RNA. His research bridges fundamental biology with translational applications in drug design and biomarker discovery.
Justin has contributed to collaborative projects at the University of Pennsylvania and current affiliations remain unspecified. While no formal awards are cited, his publications reflect active engagement in high-impact research areas.
