Justin Allen Berg is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of North Dakota (UND), where he has taught over 3,000 students across courses such as Sociological Statistics, Research Methods, and Introduction to Sociology. His research focuses on interpersonal relationships, intergroup contact, immigration attitudes, and aging, aiming to identify social conditions that foster pro-social interactions.
He has secured significant funding for his work, including the Joyce and Aqueil Ahmad Endowment Award (internal) and the National Science Foundation's ADVANCE Catalyst Award, for which he led a team to address inequity in STEM faculty. During his six-year tenure as a faculty fellow in UND's Division of Research & Economic Development, he supported colleagues in securing funding.
He served as faculty advisor for Alpha Kappa Delta, sociology's honor society, and participated in university governance through committees and the university senate. His future research plans emphasize expanding intergroup contact studies, alongside personal goals like increased cycling.
